Both this tomato and its sister line 1200-30-05 have some interesting parents. Also, please check out 1200-32-02. It has one of the same parents and the other parent is Cherokee Purple. I got some seed from Europe from a striped green when ripe heart shaped tomato. I ended up with a sausage shaped tomato from this line that I used as one of the parents.

Well this one was unexpected. I found this tomato from the Tomato Genetics Research Center called LA1016. It was a really weird color so I crossed it with Cherokee Purple. I was expecting to select odd colored tomatoes. What I was not expecting was a tomato with a Brix reading of over 7. That is a very high sugar content for a tomato.

This is a complicated tomato and offers to give you a ridiculous amount of diversity. It would not surprise me if every single tomato plant were unique. I used the same seedling of mine that I used in cross 1400-42 that contained the gene called gf that makes chocolate or purple tomatoes, plus the tangerine gene, and a gene for stripe crossed with a firm pink heart shaped cherry.

This is the F4 offspring of a cross I made from the seedling from a striped green when ripe heart shaped tomato and the massive heart tomato Happy Jack. This tomato and the sister lines 1200-30-07-02 and 1200-30-07-03 have been selected for their outstanding qualities and they are nearing completion. This is a chance for you to have a hand in finishing a tomato breeding project.

This is another great line that used four sets of grandparents, two from heirlooms and two from hybrids. Almost everything I have grown out of this has produced big red or pink tomatoes that have outstanding shelf life and amazing flavor. If you love traditional tomatoes and are interested in breeding projects this would be a great choice.

I have an emotional attachment to the tomato Linhart’s Giant. We sell that seed so you can read the story on that page. I crossed Linhart’s Giant with a tomato that contains stripes and green flesh gene. There are also genes for High Pigment and Tangerine. The thing I love about this type of genetic project is the odds of getting something rare.

Both this F3 line and its sister selection of 1200-22-23 have Cherokee Purple as a parent. The other parent was a delicious pink tomato from an heirloom potato leaf variety. The sister from this parent became Ozark Sunset. This selection was a superb purple tomato with green shoulders. The flavor was rich and complex and worthy of development.

This bright orange tomato is at F4 and should be one of the easier ones to finish. The tangerine gene is the recessive trait I was wanting. I was able to pick it up in the first grow out and simply selected the one with the best flavor. The next year I had about a dozen plants and selected again for flavor but also chose the one that produced the most tomatoes.

This is a big heart tomato that is at F4. It needs to be finished and so I am giving you the chance to do that. You will still see some diversity but not much. I have seen both potato leaf and regular leaf. There are not many potato leaf tomatoes so I would select for that. Check out this one and the sister plant 1200-60-03-03. Both are unique and both have great flavor.

If you are looking for something a little more developed than the F2 seeds then this F3 selection will put you in a particular direction. This complex tomato with a parent that was a cross of Bradley and Sunshine Blue was bred with a tomato with the green flesh gene like found in Cherokee Purple, Black Prince, Dana’s Dusky Rose and other similar tomatoes.
