Basil - Clove Scented

These were a huge hit this year at my annual live plant sale. The aroma is outstanding and it really does sort of smell like cloves. This is an easy plant to grow and it can be grown in pots as well as the ground.

White Borage

This is the beautiful white flower version of Borage. It is often overlooked and is not common. It is quite pretty and needs to be in more herb gardens. For a striking border in your herb garden try alternating this stunning white flower Borage with the traditional blue. It is impressive when the two are planted together.

Tarragon

Tarragon has the most interesting fragrance. It is great on fish and adds a new dimension to chicken if you are wanting to get away from the norm. While it is a staple in the French herb garden, it is often overlooked here in the United States. It deserves a spot in your garden and it is quite pretty.

Sage

Sage is a classic poultry seasoning, but since Max put in his herb garden we have been finding other uses for it. We used some sage to flavor some green tomatoes sautéed in olive oil with green onions and Zucchini and it was super.

Basil - Italian Green

Nothing goes better with tomatoes than Basil. Max grows this in his herb garden and it is from fine Italian seed. This is a strong grower and we dehydrate several batches every season along with the Purple Basil for a fine blend.

Caraway

Very useful biennial herb that is used from sauerkraut to bread making. The flower head looks a lot like dill or carrots. The seeds are full of aromatics that are great for seasoning many European dishes.

Toothache Plant

This stuff will make your tongue go numb. I don’t know how well it would work on a toothache, but it will for sure cause a numbing in the mouth. Toothache Plant ( Spilanthes acmella) is quite pretty too with unusual cone shaped flowers.

Borage

Borage is about the only real blue thing you can eat that I know of. The flowers are really blue and not purple. Well, when the buds first open they are sort of purple but as they mature it becomes the prettiest shade of blue you will ever see. The flowers can be used in salads to really make an impression. Borage is a must have for the traditional herb garden.

$2.99

Basil - Purple Leaf

This is Max’s Purple strain of the Basil he grows in his herb garden. He says it is the best. Give them all a try. This purple basil is really pretty and it has a nice pungent flavor that we love.

Yarrow

I grew Yarrow for the first time just because I was trying to fill up an herb garden. Had I known what a beautiful plant this was I would have had it at the top of my list instead of just using it as filler. Yarrow has the most attractive fern like foliage. Yarrow has a bunch of uses as a medicinal herb. If you are trying to grow organically, Yarrow needs to be on your list.
